A Week of Outfits | Vol 8

Here’s another roundup of my weekly outfits. These posts highlight what I wore this past week, what styles I’m loving at the moment, and links to find similar looks for fractions of designer store prices. I define my style as comfortable yet presentable for work. This post doesn’t necessary accurately depict this past weeks outfits, more so this past months favorite looks. With Andy’s surgery, I haven’t always remembered to document my favorite outfits. But these five looks in this post are some of my favorites lately. This whole post can be summed up into two words: prints and stripes.

First up is this dress. I’ve documented it here before on the blog but it’s my absolute favorite this year. I love the Loft for their dresses. They fit so well and if you buy them when they are having a 40% off sale, they are at a really great price for the quality. I’m 5’3″ so I usually get a petite extra small and it fits very well. I wore this dress all winter with black tights and black suede booties but now that warmer temperatures are here, I love it paired with these peep toe booties!

This next outfit is super comfortable. The sweatshirt is Lou & Grey line from Loft and is lined in a thin layer of fleece. The cowl neck and stripes really make an ordinary sweatshirt a little more flattering and stylish. Also, these Converse shoes are a must have for Spring through Fall wardrobe. They do run a tad big so size down 1/2 size.

Striped Sweat Shirt (similar here and here – only $27!) | Jeans | Converse Chuck Taylors | Colorblock Bag

Let’s talk about staple pieces for a moment. These pieces are different for everyone but they are pieces that can be worn through many different seasons and with many different outfits within the same season. For me, one staple includes a utility jacket. I love the added layer during colder temperatures and yet the thinness of the jacket so it can be worn in the warmer months as well. Next are two outfits with utility jackets.

Striped Turtleneck Top (similar) | Pendant Necklace (only $12!) | Kate Spade Watch (only $129!) | Utility Jacket – only $26! (similar here for only $41!)| Jeans | Black Suede Booties

I love this next look. This shift dress is from Old Navy and was very affordable. I loved the pattern but the one issue I found with shift dresses and my frame is the lack of structure. I added a utility jacket that is able to be tailored by simply pulling the side strings in a little and suddenly this dress became more form fitted.  This look is great for Spring transition piece as the dress is long sleeves and I can take the jacket off if it gets a little two warm with the double layers.

Swing Dress (similar here and here) | Canvas Jacket (only $41!) | Suede Booties

This next look is perfect for date night. This faux leather jacket was a birthday gift for myself. Each year, Andy and I let ourselves buy a birthday gift for ourselves and this year I chose this jacket. I have been looking for a good faux leather jacket in this brown color for awhile. And while this one is pricey, I know I will get my money’s worth. I have already worn it so many times. It can go with a spring dress or a t-shirt and jeans. I’ve also wanted one that didn’t feel too thick and this one is seriously so perfect and worth every penny.

I’m so excited for warmer temperatures just so I can change up my wardrobe.  I’m tired of bulky sweaters, coats and scarves. Although I love all those things, change is good for my soul. I’m one that is constantly changing, changing clothes, furniture, wall colors or just where I keep my cast iron skillet. I thrive on change.

So what are you loving this spring? Maybe all the tassel shoes out there? Or some tassel earrings. Tassels and pom poms are definitely still in this year and it makes me giddy to add them to my spring and summer outfits.
