Happy Valentine’s Day

Wishing all of you a happy Valentine’s Day, and for my fellow accounting colleagues, only 14 more days until  busy season is over, hang in there.  I don’t normally celebrate or even acknowledge VD.  Well I acknowledge the disease, who can’t.  VD falls right in the middle of what we like to call busy season.  Well this year since I am currently on maternity leave, Andy came home yesterday and surprised me with a babysitter (shoutout to my sister) and we went to dinner.  It was a nice 2 hours away from home and I praise God that Liam was good for my sister the entire time.  Also praising him the fact that Liam has been sleeping 8-9 hours at night (last night was actually 10 hours!).  Tonight my sister, mom and I are going to see Casablanca at the Schuster Center. We are very excited.  I love musicals and live performances.

Also since I am off this year, I decided to send out a little VD card to my family members, something to make them smile.  I had a very cute model to work with so it was a lot of fun.  Also hoping the family starts paying for some of those kisses, this boy needs to start his college savings early.  Just kidding, well kinda.

Also this Valentine’s day I made some sugar cookies.  I really don’t know why I did.  Valentine’s day falls after Ash Wednesday and I’m giving up sweets for lent in hopes of losing some of my baby weight.  I’ve only had one cookie and that was on Fat Tuesday and sent the others with Andy to work to get rid of.  I really just needed to let out some creative juices, and what better way to do that than with icing.

Another craft project I also completed were these mugs.

I’m sure you’ve seen tutorials all over Pinterest about writing on ceramic ware with a sharpie and then baking it to make it permanent.  Well I love these Anthropologie mugs and after I found some off white ceramic mugs at Goodwill for 50 cents, I got to doodling.  Once I had my design, I simply baked them at 350 for 30 minutes.  I then left them in the oven to cool down to where I could touch them.  As for why I went with the letters “L” “O” “V” and “E”, I actually plan to incorporate these into a bridal shower for my future sister-in-law next month.  She loves coffee, we are having a coffee bar, we need mugs that spell out love.

p.s. I’m linking up to the Lovely Crafts VD link over at Bower Power Blog.

  1. Your little guy is so adorable! Also, just a heads up – my sister made me mugs like that & the sharpie washed off. I searched around online and apparently some surfaces hold the sharpie & others don't. Yours might be totally fine, but I just wanted to let you know! 🙂
