My nephew Colton turned 5 on May 5th but his birthday party was yesterday in Knoxville, TN. Lyndsey started planning the theme of his party about a month ago and when I heard she wanted an Angry Bird party, I knew I wanted to get involved. We started brainstorming (on Pinterest mostly) of ideas and compiled a list. Then the day was here and we traveled down to TN with Andy’s mom to throw this party.
We had a slew of Angry Bird decorations. The banner in the background I made with some scrapbook paper and ribbon. I downloaded the Angry Bird font (Feast of Flesh) here and printed off the letters and then just used simple double-sided tape (my addiction) to apply.
I then made two door decorations with cardboard and tissue paper. One for the front door and one for the back.
Then there were decorations outside. Not much but I did have fun decorating the balloons.
But the ultimate attraction to the party was the game.
That’s right, a life-size angry bird game.
Even the adults wanted in on the action.
And then the kids took over again.
So can you check out angry bird balls in the above photos. This is where I spent most of my time for the party. I found some red and yellow mini kickballs at the Dollar Store and grabbed some acrylic paint from Walmart and tested my creativity skills. They turned out pretty well and were a huge hit. They also served as party favors for the kids to take home.
So here is how I went about it. Started with some sketches.
Then for the first few, in order to ease my nerves of messing up, I used a pen and made an outline on the actual ball. After a few though, you get the hang of it and painting goes faster because you can skip this step.
Then came the base colors before the black outline.
And there you go, the Angry Bird kickball.
They turned out well and were a crowd pleaser. All the little boys got a second wind at the end of the party when they realized they got to take one of each color home with them. I’m not sure of the obsession little boys have with angry birds but it is cute and I enjoyed feeding into their obsession.
Then there was cake.
And the party ended with an angry bird egg hunt. Who doesn’t love an egg hunt. Not sure if the kids were more stoked about that or the angry bird game. Votes are still being tallied.
And to leave you with two bloopers, both from my main girl Josey. I just love that little girl.
