Happy New Year

How did you spend your last day of 2011? I hope with the ones you love.  This year Andy and I had a couple of friends over to countdown to the new year.  We were uber excited since our house now looks partly furnished.  It took us a year and 3 months to get enough furniture in our home where it doesn’t feel like a bunch of empty space, even though I am pretty sure once our Christmas trees come down, it’s back to some empty space.

Anyways, I made a bunch of appetizers and had my sisters boyfriend get us some half-priced Chick-Fil-A chicken bites and hit up Goodwill and a party supply store for some quick and easy decorations.  Here’s a quick recap of the decorations.

I had found this Happy New Year sign at Party Source for only $4.  It was actually one long sign but I cut each of the words off so I could layer it.  The streamers is a door length streamer from Party Source as well.  My intention was to actually place this a little right of the dining table and have it be a photo shoot booth everyone could get a New Years picture in but catch phrase really dominated the night that I had forgotten all about it until the next morning and I don’t think anyone wanted their picture taken the morning after.

The table decorations were simple.  Vases with some white poinsettias and ornaments and silver beads.

And what’s a New Years party without champagne, beads, whistles and streamers?  (p.s. I found these matching glasses at Goodwill for only $0.50 each).  To add a little pop, I also included a raspberry in each of the champagne glasses.

It was a fun time had by all and so happy that we got to ring in the new year with some great friends.

To recap 2011 year, here are some of our memories:

  • Andy coached 9th grade Basketball at Oak Hills High School
  • We took a trip to Vegas on Andy’s spring break with our friends Matt and Amy
  • I became a CPA
  • Visited Jacksonville, Fl with Andy’s family
  • Visited Lake Cumberland for a long weekend with my family
  • Started and Completed our bathroom renovation
  • Trips to DC and TN to visit family
  • Became parents to Barkley
  • Andy started another masters of education program

We’ve had a lot of adventures in 2011.  I look forward to seeing what 2012 brings!  I wish everyone a very happy and prosperous 2012 year.
