12 Days of Christmas – the clay one

Like all my other ornaments during these 12 Days of Christmas, this ornament was inspired/copied from Pinterest.  Here is the original ornament/idea.

Well I didn’t venture too far from the original idea.  Once I spotted this ornament, I knew my creative juices wouldn’t flow too far from the original idea, they actually didn’t flow at all from the original idea.  Here is what I started with, some Sulney clay (I ended up not using the FIMO clay), doilies and stamps.

First, with clay, you have to knead it til it’s usable.  I then created little balls and used a rolling pin and wax paper to roll them out into circles.

I then pressed the doily onto the clay and used the rolling pin to get a bigger impression.

Next, I used the stamps to create some Christmas words.

I then baked the clay according to the instructions.  After they were done cookin, I used some acrylic paint to paint in the letters so they were more readible, added some ribbon and hung them on the tree.

These ornaments kinda remind me of our wedding ornament given to us as a gift….thanks Kristen and Ryan!
