Trust in the Lord

When you just need quiet time with the Lord but it’s sometimes hard to put into words your thoughts, I found that using the Psalms as your prayers are a beautiful way to speak to the Lord until you are able to use your own words.  I find that sometimes my worry and anxiety gets the best of me and I am unable to talk to God in the intimate way that I desire.  This week, I’ve been focusing on Psalm 4 about trust.  I pick out verses or words of the Psalm and just contemplate in quiet time with the Lord.  For me, it is a great way to spend time with the Lord.

For the leader; with stringed instruments.
A psalm of David.
Answer when I call, my saving God.
In my troubles, you cleared a way;
show me favor; hear my prayer.
How long will you people mock my honor,
love what is worthless, chase after lies? Selah
Know that the LORD works wonders for the faithful;
the LORD hears when I call out.
Tremble and do not sin;
upon your beds ponder in silence.
Offer fitting sacrifice and trust in the LORD.
Many say, “May we see better times!
LORD, show us the light of your face!” Selah
But you have given my heart more joy
than they have when grain and wine abound.
In peace I shall both lie down and sleep,
for you alone, LORD, make me secure.
